• Postgraduate Diploma in Science (PGDipSci) (in BioinformaticsBiological Sciences, Biosecurity and Conservation, Biotechnology) - usually followed by MSc
Postgraduate Diploma in Bioscience Enterprise (PGDipBioEnt) - usually followed by MBioEnt

Applying that knowledge to a research project
Master of Science (MSc) (in BioinformaticsBiological Sciences, Biosecurity and Conservation, Biotechnology) - must be preceded by PGDipSci (including BIOSCI 761) or BSc(Hons)
Master of Bioscience Enterprise (MBioEnt) - must be preceded by PGDipBioEnt

Fast-tracking the acquisition of theoretical knowledge and application to a research project
Bachelor of Science (Honours) (BSc(Hons)) (in BioinformaticsBiological Sciences, Biotechnology)

Undertaking long-term independent research
PhD in Biological Sciences - usually preceded by MSc or BSc(Hons)

Postgraduate study options in Biomedical Science are offered by the Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences and include a Bachelor of Biomedical Science (Honours), a Postgraduate Diploma in Biomedical Science and a Master of Biomedical Science.

The School of Biological Sciences (SBS) offers a number of postgraduate study options for you to choose from. SBS encourages you to seek advice and information from a wide range of possible supervisors and academic staff before reaching your final decision. By discussing your options you open up a number of possibilities which may give rise to alternatives and new collaborations of programmes.

Postgraduate support


In the first instance, postgraduate students should contact their lecturers, course coordinators and project supervisors for support with their studies.  Postgraduate mentors are also available to advise students about non-research related processes and procedures, and how to deal with problems being encountered with supervision or with other members of the School.
